Aparshakti was born on 18 November 1987 in Chandigarh. His mother Poonam is a housewife of half-Burmese descent and an M.A. in Hindi. While his father P. Khurana was an astrologer and author on black magic. He completed his graduation in law from Chandigarh. He also played in school and captained the Haryana Under-19 cricket team. His higher education was in Mass Communication from IIMC Delhi. He is also the younger brother of Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana.
On 7 September 2014, he married Aakriti Ahuja, a businesswoman and ISB graduate. In June 2021, the couple said they would be giving birth to their first child. On 27 August 2021, the couple welcomed a son named Arzoi A Khurana.

In the 2016 biographical sports drama Dangal, directed by Nitin Tiwari and based on the true life of Mahavir Singh Phogat, Aparshakti made his acting debut.
