INTERNATIONAL CAREER JOURNEY

Alex Carey Wiki: On January 19, 2018, Alex Carey made his Australia One Day International (ODI) debut, taking Tim Paine’s place due to injury. Carey’s performance in the 2017–18 Big Bash League earned him the opportunity. Against New Zealand, on February 3, 2018, he made his Australian T20I debut.

In his first two matches, he had two chances to score runs and earn selection. The team then decided to pick him. Furthermore, he had run out of partners when he went over fifty versus Western Australia. After being left off the team, Tim Paine was chosen in its place. Carey scored 139 against Queensland to record his first-class century for South Australia, even though he was left off the national team.

On December 8, 2021, Alex made his Test debut in the first Test of the 2021–22 Ashes series. Alex Carey was awarded his loose green cap by Adam Gilchrist. On his Test debut, Alex Carey equaled the record for the most recoveries by a wicketkeeper with eight. In the opening session of the second test, Alex Carey scored 93 runs off 159 balls after being caught by Pakistani captain Babar Azam.

With a maximum score of 92, Tim Paine, the former Australian player and wicketkeeper, was only one run ahead of him with this score. In the first innings of the third and final test, Carey struck 67 runs off 105 balls, contributing to Australia’s 391-run total. In the second innings, Alex opted not to bat, and Australia emerged victorious by 115 runs, winning the three-match series 1-0. In the Lord’s Ashes test in 2023, Alex Carey drew flak for controversially stumping England star Jonny Bairstow. The press in the United Kingdom gave this topic a lot of attention, including several front pages. When the keeper had gathered the ball and left his crease while it was still alive, Bairstow had assumed it was dead. Carey rapidly set down his leg stump from the wicketkeeper posture after catching the ball since he had noticed this in earlier deliveries.
