Marnus Labuschagne Wiki, Career

Labuschagne was a right-handed batsman and played for Queensland under 12, under 15, under 17 and under 19. Also captained the team in the 2012–13 National Championship. He plays Brisbane grade cricket for East-Redlands District Cricket Club. In 2013, he played club cricket in the Devon Premier League in England for Plymouth and in 2014 for Sandwich Town Cricket Club in the Kent Premier League, scoring well in both.

After playing just once for the Queensland Academy, Labuschagne made his first-class debut against South Australia in the first round of the 2014–15 Sheffield Shield season. In Queensland’s first innings, opening the batting with Joe Burns, he scored 83 runs and also made a 99-run partnership with Nick Stevens for the fourth wicket. Later in the 2014–15 season, Labuschagne was included in the Australian national team as a substitute fielder in the second Test against India at the Gabba, where he took a catch at short leg.

In October 2015, he made his List A debut for Queensland in the 2015 One-Day Cup. The following month, he scored 112 in his eighth Sheffield Shield match. In the 2016 One-Day Cup, he was named player of the tournament after scoring 273 runs at an average of 45.

He became the first fielder to be penalized under the new law prohibiting fielders from deceiving batsmen in the 2017 One-Day Cup match played between Queensland and Cricket Australia XI in September 2017. Labuschagne dived to field a ball at cover and pretended to bowl the ball to the wicketkeeper, although he failed to stop the ball. His team was sentenced to five runs.

He scored the most runs for Queensland in the 2017–18 Sheffield Shield, leading Cricket Australia to name him in their Sheffield Shield team of the season.
